Testing and certification

Every Calm Caterpillar plush is independently tested by a CPSC-accepted third-party laboratory and certified to meet or exceed U.S. federal toy safety standards, including ASTM F963, the Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety. We hold a valid Children's Product Certificate (CPC) documenting compliance. Testing is conducted by an accredited independent laboratory, not by us.

What our products are tested for

• Lead and heavy metals - screened to ensure levels stay within strict federal safety limits.
• Small parts and choking hazards - evaluated for age-appropriate design and durability.
• Flammability - tested to confirm safe material performance.
• Material quality and construction - including seams, stuffing, and attached components, tested for normal use, impact, pulling, and twisting.

Supervision

Adult supervision is required for every product we make. These are tools a child may choose to hold, squeeze, move with, breathe with, or decline. Nothing here is a medical device, and nothing here treats, prevents or cures any condition.

Weighted products

Flutter the Weighted Dragonfly is 3 lbs (about 1.4 kg), spread across the body and four wings. A child should always be able to lift a weighted item off themselves without help. Do not leave a weighted item where a child sleeps, and do not place one on a child who has not chosen it. Flutter is not designed to be heated - do not microwave it.

Sound

Rory the Lion contains a voice box in a zippered pouch behind his head. It stays zipped during normal use. When you remove it for washing, please be cautious of small battery parts, as they could pose a choking hazard. Rory Junior has no voice box.

Cleaning, by product

• Calmee the Caterpillar - machine washable. Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry.
• Rory the Lion - remove the voice box, then machine wash and air dry.
• Flutter the Weighted Dragonfly - spot clean where possible. Machine washing is not recommended.
• Bloomie, Buzzee, Rory Junior, Stumpy - spot clean. Machine washing is not recommended.
• Books, guides, posters and cards - keep dry.
• Breathing ball - wipe clean.
